Patricia McElveen tragically lost her 11-year-old daughter Abiah  to myocarditis in 2008.  Since thenPatricia has been a strong supporter of the Myocarditis Foundation and has held many awareness events and fundraisers in her community.  However, it is on Saturday, May 3rd that she will complete her largest accomplishment since the passing of Abiah;  Patricia McElveen will receive her Bachelors Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting.

McElveen Graduation Announcement

God has graced me to complete my Bachelors Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting!

Despite not sitting in a classroom for over thirty years, I made a decision to return to college.  This decision was made after my youngest daughter, Abiah, at the age of 11, departed this life. Returning to school was therapy and aided me with my grief process.

The pink dress in this announcement is the very dress that I wore six years ago to her funeral services.  Six years later, I made a decision to wear it to commemorate my higher education accomplishments and the wonderful 11 years she and I spent together!

I am aware you will not be able to attend the graduation ceremony in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.   Please celebrate with me by wearing something pink and black on May 3, 2014.”

Congratulations to Patricia.  We will all be wearing pink and black on May 3rd to celebrate you in spirit and will be remembering your loving and vibrant daughter Abiah.
