A New Biomarker to Diagnose Acute Myocarditis?

An investigator’s report on this was published in the May 27, 2021 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

Researchers from around the world, some whom are on or work with our Medical Advisory Board (Dr.DeLisa Fairweather, Dr. Katelyn Bruno, of the Mayo Clinic) and Board of Directors (Dr.Bettina Heidecker, of the Charite), have been collaborating on this potential blood test to diagnose Myocarditis.

Dr. DeLisa Fairweather,  was interviewed about it and the synopsis of the article published is attached below.

A reliable and accessible diagnostic tool for the early diagnosis of acute myocarditis is something that we have all been waiting for.

“It would be very nice to have diagnosis by a blood test instead of needing very expensive techniques like magnetic resonance or very aggressive tests like biopsy. I think it’s the future of diagnosis.” Dr. Pilar Martín, Senior Author
