I serve on the board because there is no better way to help patients and their families who are impacted by myocarditis. Every time I hear from a grateful family and I know that the information and support that we provide is unique, I am reassured that the time and effort spent on the Myocarditis Foundation activities is worthwhile.

Credentials: Dr. Cooper is a founder of the Myocarditis Foundation, has had a career-long focus on Myocarditis, particularly Giant Cell Myocarditis. He has published over 130 original peer-reviewed papers as well as contributing to, and editing books on myocarditis. His research focuses on multicenter clinical and translational studies of myocarditis and its major consequence, dilated cardiomyopathy. In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Cooper is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, The American Heart Association, the European Society of Cardiology Heart Failure Association, The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology. He serves as a consultant in Cardiovascular Diseases and is the chair of the Cardiovascular Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida.
