On March 25th, 2011 the festivities for the Dallas Rock and Roll Marathon began, however; this year the Austry family was there with an important message. They were there to raise awareness for myocarditis, the disease that took Mark Austry from them at the finish line of the marathon the year before.
The Myocarditis Foundation joined the friends and family of Mark Austry and set up a booth at the registration site for the marathon. Here they were able to spread the word about myocarditis and raise money to go towards a research grant. The local news team, Dallas 5 News also picked up on the amazing story of the Austry family and ran a touching story of how the family is working to spread awareness about the devastating disease that took Mark so suddenly from their lives.
