GuideStar is an information service specializing in reporting on U.S. Non-Profit Companies. In 2016, its database provided information on 2.5 million organizations.

In January 2016, GuideStar upgraded their non-profit profiles to allow users to more easily identify an organization’s geographic reach, results, sources of funding, financial stability and leadership. The re-design shifted the emphasis from charity overhead costs to progress and results, a reflection of a broader database in the non-profit world about measuring and communicating impact.

Upon updating our Guidestar profile, it reconfirmed our Gold Status for Transparency. Those non-profits with Gold Star Status, of which we are one, are in the top 0.5% of all non-profit organizations on GuideStar.

The Gold Level is all about asking for qualitative information about your organization. To receive the Gold Level of participation, you must have completed the Silver level as well as the Bronze Level. (Only 2% of all non-profits registered with GuideStar are even Bronze Status.)

For the Gold Level, they request information on our Impact Summary, our Goals, our Strategies, Capabilities and Progress. We will be working towards attaining the Platinum Level, for which we need to measure various metrics to see how we measure progress and results of what we are doing within the Myocarditis Foundation’s mission and goals.

We know that education and raising awareness of this rare disease is key to early diagnosis. Early diagnosis is related to improved outcomes for those who have been affected by this disease.

Please help us continue our mission to raise awareness and educate both the medical and public communities, as well as raising funding for research.  Emotional Support of those affected by the disease is equally important to those affected.
