Hello everyone! I cannot believe that the summer is almost over and the Family Support Meeting is almost upon us!

I would like to give you a rundown of the weekend and let anyone who is still considering coming know that there are still spots and rooms still available…

Friday, September 16th, starts with a wonderful Mediterranean Buffet at The Villa de Flora Restaurant at the Gaylord Palms at 5:30 pm. Pace yourself , because there is so much to offer, from appetizers to dessert! This is a great place to meet or reacquaint yourself with those who you have met at previous meetings. This will be followed by the Candlelight Vigil, led by Pastor Tom Ulrath, from Melbourne Florida, who is a member of Compassionate Friends. Pastor Tom lost a child. The vigil will be honoring those that have been affected by myocarditis. Battery operated candles will be provided and will take place at Coquina, Fire Pit #1.

Saturday starts out early with Breakfast and registration at 7:30 am. Our Speakers start at 8:00 am sharp, with the physicians speaking first, then the family speakers, who have so generously agreed to share their stories with us, will speak.

This is followed by lunch.

After lunch, the Physicians and Researchers go off to their meeting and we continue with some speakers who I am sure will be very helpful to us all. Valerie Weeks, who has a Masters in Social Work and a Bachelors on Psychology, will be giving us some information on “The Importance of Relaxation and Self-Care for Managing Stress, Trauma, and Traumatic Grief.” This will be followed by a husband and wife from Compassionate Friends, Mary and Bob Lane, of Orlando Florida, who have also lost a child.

After a break, we will hear from the Researchers who will speak to us about what they are working on with their Myocarditis Research. Our first research speaker will be Dr. Jon Sin who is our latest Fellowship Grant Recipient and our own Dr. Katelyn Bruno will also update us on her work.

After a brief recess, we will all meet back at the Villa de Flora Restaurant at 6:00 pm for another wonderful dinner to end our weekend.

We welcome anyone who is still interested to call Gen at (281) 713-2962 or email her at [email protected] There is still room available!
