The Myocarditis Foundation is pleased and excited to announce that we are awarding two Fellowship Grants for the Academic Year of July 2022 – June 2023.

The grant applications were received in our recent grant cycle, reviewed by our International Medical Advisory Board (MAB) of Clinicians and Researchers, then voted upon by the MAB as well as our Board of Directors (BOD). It was also agreed to increase the Grant Awards to $50,000 each, thanks to the generosity and support of the donors to the Myocarditis Foundation.

The first award goes to Dr. Pan Ma, PhD, from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.        Dr. Ma works under the preceptorship of Dr. Kory Lavine, MD, PhD, Associate Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Research at Washington University. She will be working on “Defining the Spatial Proteomic and Transcriptomic Landscape of Myocarditis.” (Layman description to follow shortly.)

The second award goes to Dr. Tahir Kafil, MD, from the Ottawa Heart Institute, Canada.

Dr. Kafil works under the preceptorship of Dr. Peter Liu, MD, Chief Scientific Officer and VP of Research at the Ottawa Heart Institute. He will be working on “COVID-19 Vaccine-induced Inflammatory Heart Disease Registry and Prospective Cohort Study (COVID-VIHPR)”.

Both have an amazing passion and aptitude for myocarditis/inflammatory heart disease research. We anticipate many answers coming on myocarditis from them both.

Congratulations again, to Dr. Pan Ma and Dr.Tahir Kafil, from the Myocarditis Foundation!
