This year, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, we are celebrating #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to giving – when charities, families, businesses, community centers, students, retailers and more will all come together celebrate giving and encourage more, better and smarter giving.
The Myocarditis Foundation has once again received the Gold Standard of Transparency from GuideStar, a monitoring Foundation of non-profit charities. GuideStar ranks the charities according to how well they utilize their donations and administer the Foundation. As a Gold Standard recipient, we are ranked in the top 0.5% of all nonprofit organizations on GuideStar.
In the same way that Black Friday and Cyber Monday kick off the Holiday Buying Season, #GivingTuesday kicks off the Giving Season, highlighting the true meaning of what this time of the year is all about.
This philanthropic holiday sets itself apart as a social media celebration. Donors who give to charities on #GivingTuesday, often share about their favorite causes on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. and encourage their friends to give, too.
What makes us different than all the others you might ask…
- Myocarditis is a disease that so often affects otherwise healthy children and young adults.
- Myocarditis strikes without warning and is the 3rd leading cause of sudden death in that age group.
- The symptoms of Myocarditis are the same as many viral childhood illnesses and most often is misdiagnosed as those illnesses.
- We are working on educating both the medical and public communities about this disease so that they look further, think outside the box, and possibly save a life.
- Early diagnosis is key to improved outcomes from this disease
Please go to our website www.myocarditisfoundation.org and read our Real Life Stories. There are many more success stories than victim stories as we move forward with our awareness and education about the disease.
Your donations help to educate and will raise funding for research to help find the reason why it attacks some but not others…the most common virus that causes myocarditis is the Coxsackie virus…this virus affects just about everyone at one point in their lives…help us stop myocarditis from stopping your child from living life to the fullest.
