First, I would like to introduce Dr. Dor Lotan. He is a heart failure cardiologist who specializes in advanced heart failure therapies and cardiomyopathies. He has a special interest in myocardial and pericardial diseases. Dr. Lotan published several scientific medical papers in peer-reviewed journals and published three book chapters, among them in a cardiovascular medicine textbook by the European Society of Cardiology. Dr. Lotan has been invited to give lectures about his research work at numerous international medical conferences and participated in the European Task Force and international multi-center prospective studies.
Dr. Lotan’s primary research has been on advanced heart failure therapies, hemodynamics, cardiomyopathies, myocarditis, and pericardial diseases. Dr. Lotan worked with experts around the world and is actively participating in a multi-national meeting to improve patient care and diagnosis. Dr. Lotan has been taking care of myocarditis and pericarditis patients for many years and was recruited by NewYork-Presbyterian to bring his expertise here.
Recently, he has been appointed as the director of the newly formed Pericardial/Myocardial Disease Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York. The center will take a multidisciplinary approach, including cardiology, rheumatology, cardiovascular imaging, and thoracic surgery if needed.
The Mission of the clinic is to provide comprehensive care for patients presenting with any type of pericardial disease, including resistant, recurrent pericarditis, constrictive pericarditis, as well as patients suffering from myocarditis.
