In the past decade there has been a growing interest in understanding sex and gender differences in myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and the purpose of this review is to provide an update on this topic including epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management. Recently, many clinical studies have been conducted examining sex differences in myocarditis.

Dr. DeLisa Fairweather, a member of our Medical Advisory Board, Dr. Bettina Heidecker, a member of our Board of Directors, and Dr. Katelyn Bruno, the secretary to our Medical Advisory Board, who are all myocarditis researchers, have written a paper with a few other researchers on this very important topic. While we have a brief synopsis of this in our website FAQs, this is much more involved and informative.

Please read the attached article, published in the Frontiers of Cardiovascular Medicine, March 2, 2023.
